The drive back was unbelievably green, for lack of a better adjective. The vegetation here lies thick on the earth, with the frequent interruption by various garish billboards advertising this and that. Eventually, the jungle yields ground, though never completely, to buildings and people, lorries and roads.
On our way home, we stopped at a chain restaurant called Old Town White Coffee for some food, as well as the refreshing and eponymous coffee beverage.

Don't let me fool you: It was hot. So I was pretty happy that it was an open-air establishment with fans blowing cool mist. The tasty food helped to distract me as well.
Once we got home, Wearn and I were able to shower up, unpack a bit, and otherwise regroup. I'll post some pics of the neighborhood and the house itself soon, I promise. Later, we decided that we were going to drive into downtown KL to visit Wearn's mother, who was attending a conference there and thus hadn't been able to meet us at the airport.
Wearn and I didn't have our cameras, but rest assured: What ensued was probably one of the most frustrating driving experiences I have ever witnessed. I felt so bad for Wearn's dad! Rush hour traffic in KL is definitely not a force to be trifled with. It wasn't just that traffic was thick (that goes without saying since it's downtown in a big city), but the drivers here take some bold risks. Lane markings are suggestions at best and turn signal operation is a lost art unknown to modern Kuala Lumpurians. From my observation, drivers tend to respect traffic lights, though. The GPS only added to the frustration by leading us around in circles around our target destination.
Eventually (after turning off the GPS) we found our destination. After wandering around the hotel for a bit, we were able to meet up with Wearn's mother and we went to dinner at a seafood place across from the hotel. Everything was very nice. I just wish that I'd remembered my camera.
